Country music star Shania Twain took the prestigious Legends slot at Glastonbury Festival 2024 on Sunday, June 30, opening with her classic 1998 hit, "That Don’t Impress Me Much."
Her performance on the Pyramid stage had been eagerly anticipated, but fans were equally captivated by an unexpected detail during her set.
Despite expressing a desire to enter the stage on horseback in a pre-festival interview with the BBC, Shania instead made her entrance flanked by drag queens with horse puppets. Wearing a black cowboy hat and a pink ruffled outfit, the 58-year-old sang to thousands of festival-goers, many of whom also sported cowboy hats.
"It’s such an honor to be invited here," Shania told the crowd at Worthy Farm. She noted the sea of cowboy hats in the audience, an accessory that has become synonymous with her shows. Shania shared that she had explored the Glastonbury Festival site before her debut performance, describing it as a "city" and a "community." She expressed her gratitude, calling the experience a "once-in-a-lifetime" moment that she would "treasure forever."
